sherif Early Career Prize

The sherif committee is delighted to announce the launch of its new early-career professional prize.

UKSG Conference 2025

We are offering a place at the UKSG conference in Brighton (31 March to 2 April) for the successful applicant, plus travel costs within the UK. The applicant or their institution will need to cover costs of accommodation.

The deadline for applications is midnight on Monday 17 March 2025.

Criteria

This prize is for anyone working for a sherif member institution:

  • in the first two years of their library career
  • OR in a junior post related to the sherif remit
  • OR in a post related to the sherif remit for a short time so far.
  • The prize will be awarded with a requirement to write up the conference, for sharing on the sherif website and/or mailing list, covering:

  • what the prize recipient has learnt from the conference, and
  • how you will apply that learning in your professional role.
  • How to Apply

    To enter, please submit either a written statement (maximum 250 words) or a video (maximum 2 minutes), with your response to these questions:

  • Why do you want to attend the conference?
  • What are you dealing with in your working life that this will help with?
  • In addition, please answer the following questions:

  • Please confirm that you are employed by a sherif member institution.
  • Please indicate whether your institution is a member of UKSG.
  • Please confirm that you or your institution can cover costs of accommodation for the conference.
  • Please confirm that you are able to provide a conference write-up for sherif to publish.
  • Please also include your line manager’s name and email address. We will use this to confirm your eligibility for the prize.
