Biographies
Ed Fay, Director of Library Services, University of Bristol
Ed Fay is Director of Library Services and University Librarian, responsible for library strategy, university study space, and cultural collections at the University of Bristol. He has a decade of experience in library leadership and has developed a consciously human-centred approach to community and service development. He has been variously responsible for collection development and digital scholarship, scholarly communication and open research, and blended learning environments and user experience.
Ruth Phillips, Head of Collections, Library & Student Support, University of Middlesex
Ruth Phillips has been Head of Collections at Middlesex University since 2015, in a nutshell her role is to make resources legally available and easily discoverable to support teaching and learning. As well as traditional acquisition activities and the coordination of online reading lists, this includes overseeing the management of a large eTextbook scheme. Having spent the majority of her professional career in customer facing roles she is keen to ensure that the ‘why’ doesn’t get forgotten.
Fiona Durham, Open University
Fiona Durham has been a learning and teaching librarian at the Open University Library for twenty years and very much enjoys teaching library skills online to students. She is also an academic liaison librarian working with academics to embed library resources and skills into modules, as well as working on the OU library helpdesk. Although a great fan of print books she never gets to handle one in the day job.
Alison Brock, Open University
Alison Brock is an eContent Advisor at The Open University Library and has worked in that role since 2007. Her role includes evaluating and assessing use of electronic resources and she is a member of the Community Advisory Group for the Jisc Usage Statistics Portal (JUSP).
